Case study: Sevenoaks, Kent
A small, semi-walled garden with a mediterranean aesthetic
Within a semi-walled garden in Sevenoaks, Kent, the brief was to create separate places for relaxation, to make the most of the morning sun on one side of the garden and the evening sun on the other, with mediterranean-style planting and materials throughout. The lawn was kept to enable the playing of summer games. Using a decorative screen chosen by the client and plants, two separate zones were created; one, a small space for eating and lounging, the other an intimate place for catching the sun set. Fences were painted in sky blue and in white and Jura Beige Limestone inset with patterned encaustic cement tiles added to the meditarranean feel. Two orange trees in terracotta pots welcome you into the garden.
