A Japanese-inspired front garden in the shade
My clients asked for a front garden that would wow visitors and be a talking point whilst also paying homage to the gardens of Japan that they had fallen in love with on a recent trip. They didn’t, however, want a copy of a Japanese garden, they wanted something unique, that was low maintenance and looked like it had been there for some time, rather than just created. Irrigation was an essential element as the huge Leylandii tree was staying put, as was the choice of plants; planting anything under or close to a Leylandii tree that is not only to survive but thrive is a gargantuan task in itself. However, ten years later and the garden (and the plants) are still thriving.
